Keith Haring Light

It’s been 30 years since Keith Haring’s death, the spirit of his art is still alive. Keith Haring’s artwork often represents a social issue or a contemporary problem, from nuclear proliferation to AIDS to the environment to racial and income inequality.

I was inspired by that. One of the most important problems now is the coronavirus, not just how dangerous it is, but also how it separates us, people from all over the world start to blame or even hate Chinese people. But the fact is that the virus is the enemy of all of us, and we as a human being should be unite as one and fight this together, blaming one another is not going to make a difference, only make it worse.

Based on Keith Haring’s artworks, I took out some of his characteristics and designed this light fixture. The main character is the representation of the coronavirus, the red cross represents death. The virus is holding the people, which means our lives are in its hand, but the people are reaching out to each other holding a weapon which implies we should fight the virus together.
